2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI S

2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI S FWD Performance and Capability

The 2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI S carries forward the hot-hatch formula that made the nameplate a benchmark, powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder sending 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels. The quick-shifting 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic snaps through gears with the kind of precision that makes everyday commuting and spirited back-road runs equally satisfying, while the GTI's sport-tuned suspension and VAQ electronically controlled limited-slip differential keep the chassis composed and the front end planted through corners. An XDS cross-differential system sharpens turn-in, and the front-wheel-drive layout paired with available stability and traction control makes this GTI a confident companion through slick Western New York winters. For a compact car, it delivers a genuinely engaging drive without sacrificing the practicality of a hatchback.

2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI S FWD Interior and Comfort Features

Inside, the GTI S stays true to its heritage with the Titan Black interior trimmed in the iconic Scalepaper Plaid fabric, a nod to the original GTI that gives the cabin real character and grip-in-the-seat support. Sport front seats hold you in place during enthusiastic driving while remaining comfortable on longer hauls, and the flat-bottom sport steering wheel falls naturally to hand. The hatchback body style delivers a genuinely usable cargo area with a 60/40 split-folding rear seat that expands space for gear, luggage, or weekend projects. Automatic climate control, well-placed storage, and clean, driver-focused ergonomics round out a cabin that feels purposeful rather than fussy. A set of all-weather mats adds practical protection against the elements.

2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI S FWD Fuel Economy and Efficiency

Running on premium fuel, the GTI S returns an EPA-estimated 24 mpg city and 32 mpg highway, for roughly 27 mpg combined. That efficiency is impressive given the performance on tap, and the turbocharged 2.0-liter's broad torque band means you can keep revs low and sip fuel in everyday driving while still having instant power in reserve. For a car this engaging, the GTI makes a strong case as a vehicle you can genuinely drive every day without a painful trip to the pump.

2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI S FWD Technology and Connectivity

The GTI S is built around a modern digital cockpit, featuring the Digital Cockpit instrument display and a central touchscreen running VW's infotainment system with wireless App-Connect for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so your phone's navigation and media sync up without fumbling for a cable. Bluetooth connectivity, USB-C ports, and a crisp audio setup keep devices charged and media streaming, while voice controls and intuitive menus keep your attention where it belongs. It's a tech package that feels contemporary and genuinely useful rather than overloaded with menus you'll never touch.

2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI S FWD Safety and Driver Assistance

Volkswagen backs the GTI with a thorough suite of driver aids. Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Braking and pedestrian monitoring help mitigate the unexpected, while a rearview camera makes parking and reversing straightforward. A comprehensive airbag array, electronic stability control, and the reassuring rigidity of the MQB platform underpin the GTI's safety credentials, giving you confidence whether you're navigating daily traffic or heading out of town. It's the kind of quiet competence that lets you focus on enjoying the drive.
