2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R RWD Performance and Capability

The heart of this Shelby is its 5.2-liter Ti-VCT flat-plane-crank V8, a naturally aspirated engine that revs to a stratospheric redline and delivers a wail unlike any other Mustang. Paired exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential running a 3.73 axle ratio, the GT350R is built to attack a road course and reward a driver who wants to feel every input. MagneRide magnetic damping continuously adjusts to the surface, while the Brembo brake calipers and two-piece vented brake rotors haul the car down from speed with confidence. Launch Control, line-lock, and Track Apps are built into the driving experience, along with an engine oil cooler, transmission oil cooler, and independent rear suspension that keep the hardware composed under sustained hard use. Rear-wheel drive and serious power mean this is a machine that demands respect through slick Western New York winters, but with the right care it rewards enthusiasts year-round.

2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R RWD Interior and Comfort Features

Inside, the GT350R wraps the driver in Ebony seating with red accents, an environment built around focus rather than flash. The Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel gives a tactile, grippy connection to the front axle, while power-adjustable front seats with a split-fold rear layout balance track intent with everyday usability. Air conditioning with dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control keeps the cabin comfortable, and a center console with armrest, dual illuminated visor vanity mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a floor-mounted shifter round out a purposeful driver's space. Cruise control, tilt and telescoping steering column adjustment, a rear-window defroster, and global-open windows add convenience to a car engineered first and foremost to perform.

2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R RWD Fuel Economy and Efficiency

This Shelby runs on gasoline and carries EPA-estimated figures of 14 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 16 mpg combined. Those numbers reflect exactly what the 5.2-liter flat-plane V8 is built to be: a high-revving, track-focused powerplant where the reward is sound and speed rather than efficiency. For a naturally aspirated sports car engineered to live at the top of the tach, the ratings are consistent with the driving experience this car delivers.

2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R RWD Technology and Connectivity

The cabin is equipped with SYNC 3, Ford's responsive infotainment system, paired here with a voice-activated touchscreen navigation system and SiriusXM satellite radio capability. An AM/FM single-CD player with MP3 support, electric power-assist steering, remote keyless entry, and a premium audio setup keep the technology accessible without distracting from the drive. Launch Control and the integrated Track Apps suite give the driver real performance telemetry, turning the instrument cluster into a tool for measuring and improving lap after lap.

2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R RWD Safety and Driver Assistance

Safety hardware includes AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, a driver airbag, dual front and side airbags, a front passenger knee airbag, and individual tire pressure monitoring. A latch child-safety seat system, perimeter alarm, SecuriLock passive anti-theft protection, and SOS Post-Crash Alert System add further reassurance. The car earned a five-star Overall Vehicle Score in NHTSA testing, backed by five-star frontal and side crash ratings, giving this focused sports car a strong safety foundation to match its performance credentials.
